Every January I have a connecting set of 31 reviews which center around one universal theme or series that makes up Buttered Popcorn Movie Month. This is my largest series each year and after the disaster that was 2021 which saw me drop the series halfway through the month due to mental health reasons when I stepped away from writing reviews for a couple of months, I could not be more excited to be back with Buttered Popcorn Movie Month 2022! For this year, I decided to take a look at a genre rather than a franchise or studio, that genre is the Christmas genre! Christmas is one of the biggest holidays not just in the United States but now the world with many finding a tremendous amount of joy and comfort from the holiday. Within cinema, the genre has grown and changed alongside society but often gets overlooked and considered more basic. While this is undeniably true for some films, the emotions of Christmas also has provided plenty with a foundation for incredibly poignant and layered discussions which I hope to unearth and highlight throughout this series. From the annual classics to the trash Netflix originals to the hidden gems, this is the most festive Buttered Popcorn Movie Month to date! So with that said, grab a cup of hot coco and welcome to Buttered Popcorn Movie Month 2022!
